Hammett admits he could have done things better

The Hurricanes departing captain Andrew Hore concedes coach Mark Hammett's dictatorial approach led to a breakdown with the Hurricanes' senior leadership group and put a major dent in his relationship with the players.

Hore played his final game in the Hurricanes loss to the Crusaders on Saturday, a fortnight after being told he wasn't wanted by the franchise, and although he says he has no personal beef with his coach he admitted problems had surfaced early in their troubled season.

Hammett concedes it's been a tough couple of weeks after releasing stalwarts Hore and Ma'a Nonu and says in reflection the matter could have been handled better.
