New Zealand's won its opening match at the under-17 men's football world cup in Mexico, beating Uzbekistan 4-1 in searing 38 degree heat.
Midfielder Stephen Carmichael scored a hatrick while Jordon Vale scored the side's fourth goal.
The win is the first for a New Zealand men's team at a FIFA tournament played outside New Zealand.
It also gives the Young All Whites a good chance of making the next round of 16 and will need a point from their other two pool games against the Czech Republic and the United States.
They play the Czech Republic on Thursday.
