Thurston cleared for Origin decider

A rugby league civil war has been averted with Queensland maestro Johnathan Thurston cleared to play in the State of Origin decider on the 6th of July after being found not guilty of making contact with a referee.

Thurston had to endure a nerve-wracking 45-minute deliberation last night before learning that the NRL judiciary had accepted his claim that his collision with referee Matt Cecchin during last weekend's Cowboys match against the Warriors was accidental.

When the charge was laid, Queenslanders accused New South Wales of a conspiracy.
