The New Zealand Tall Ferns women's basketball team turned the tables on China with an 83-82 win over the host team at a Four Nations tournament in Yulin.
There was no more than two points separating the teams at the end of each quarter.
China are ranked 8th in the world and New Zealand 16th.
The Tall Ferns play Australia tonight and Brazil tomorrow night.
The tournament is part of a build up towards the London Olympic qualifying series against Australia in Australian in September this year.
