Christchurch will miss out on international cricket this summer because of earthquake damage to AMI stadium.

New Zealand Cricket has announced the Black Caps programme for the touring Zimbabwe and South Africa sides.

The chief executive of New Zealand Cricket Justin Vaughan says following the February earthquakes there's no guarantee AMI stadium will be repaired in time to host international games.

The Black Caps will play one Test, three One-Dayers and two Twenty20 matches against Zimbabwe from mid January to mid February.

That will be followed by three Twenty20 matches, three One-Dayers and three Tests against South Africa.

Napier will host the first test of the summer against Zimbabwe while Dunedin's University Oval will host a test against South Africa and a one dayer against Zimbabwe following improvements to the venue.

Wellington and Hamilton will host the other two tests against South Africa.

Whangarei's Cobham Oval which recently gained approval to host international matches will host a one day match against Zimbabwe on Waitangi Day.
