Garcia pipped for BMW title in Munich

The resurgent Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia blew the chance to win his first title in more than two-and-a-half years when he was beaten by fellow Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal in a playoff at the BMW International Open in Munich.

Garcia birdied the last hole of the final round to force a sudden-death playoff, but Larrazabal won his second European tour title when Garcia three-putted the 5th extra hole.

Both players secured places in next month's British Open at Sandwich in south-east England.
