NZ upset Australian at Champions Trophy

The New Zealand womens hockey team has held on to beat Australia 3-2 at the Champions Trophy tournament in Amsterdam.

The Black Sticks jumped out to a 3-nil lead early in the second half with goals from Katie Glynn, Krystal Forgeson and Cathryn Finlayson and despite having 2 players carded late in the match they held on for their first win over the Hockeyroos at the top 8 tournament.

Glynn, the 22-year-old Auckland striker, says it was a bit tense as they dealt with an Australian onsalught near the end of the game.

The Black Sticks next opponent the Netherlands top the group standings with 2 wins, while New Zealand and Germany are second and Australia 4th with no points.

Argentina top the other group from Korea.
