Black Sticks reach top four at Champions Trophy

6:02 am on 29 June 2011

The New Zealand women's hockey team has qualified for the top four play-offs of the Champions Trophy tournament after drawing nil-all with hosts the Netherlands in their last group match.

The Dutch had already qualified, while a draw was going to be enough for the Black Sticks and so assistant coach Chris Leslie says that combined with the intense heat meant the match never really reached any great heights.

New Zealand will now play the top two sides from the other group starting with Korea on Friday morning and then Argentina... the top two sides after that then meet in the final.

The Champions Trophy is for the top eight sides in the world.
