Stephen Brett says rugby in Japan's better for his bad knee

The Blues first-five Stephen Brett says he's decided to move to Japan because rugby there won't be as hard on his body.

The 25-year-old, who moved from the Crusaders last season, says he hopes to play in New Zealand again after two years with Toyota Verblitz.

Brett says the club competition in Japan compares more than favourably with Europe's in two key respects.

Stephen Brett made what's proved to be a prescient decision to study Japanese for four years at Christchurch Boys High School, although he says the main reason was he didn't want to learn French.
