Warriors not rushing to replace Cleary

The Warriors won't be rushing to replace coach Ivan Cleary says the national rugby league's club's chief executive Wayne Scurrah.

Cleary announce yesterday he's leaving the club at the end of the season having signed a three year deal with Penrith.

Scurrah says he's already spoken to possible successors assistant coach Tony Iro, the Junior Warriors' coach John Ackland and the man viewed as the leading candidate former Kiwis and Leeds coach Brian McClennan about the role.

He says while they are the three natural candidates the club wants to make sure it appoint the right person, cheekily suggesting if Australian coaching legend Wayne Bennett was keen on the role and happy to take a substantial pay cut they'd certainly consider him.
