Australian motorcycle racer Casey Stoner will start on pole for Sunday's Italian MotoGP after posting the quickest time in qualifying at the Mugello circuit on Saturday.
The Honda rider set a qualifying lap record of 1min 48.034sec, beating Yamaha's American Ben Spies by almost half a second.
Next came Honda's Italian duo Marco Simoncelli and Andrea Dovizioso.
