Black Sticks beaten by Korea

The New Zealand women's hockey team has been beaten 5-3 by South Korea in their first play-off match at the Champions Trophy tournament in Amsterdam.

The match was level at 2-2 at half-time and the Black Sticks went close to snatching a draw late in the game when they brought on an extra striker, but if backfired as the Koreans then ran away to score their fifth.

Coach Mark Hager says the disappointing thing was that they conceded too many soft goals and he wonders if his players were a bit relaxed and content with making the top four.

Katie Glynn, Charlotte Harrison and Cathryn Finlayson scored the New Zealand goals.
