Barry Maister heads for Winter Olymopic presentation

New Zealand's International Olympic Commitee member Barry Maister will head to the 123rd IOC Session in Durban on Sunday to present an evaluation report on the cities bidding for the 2018 Winter Games.

Maister sits on the Bid Evaluation Commission and has spent the past nine months working with commission members visiting sitess and analysing files submitted by Annecy in France, Munich in Germany and Pyongyang in South Korea).

Voting will take place Thursday morning after the bid city presentations and the Evaluation Commission's final presentation.

The host city is selected by the 115 IOC members and their agenda also include sports betting, match fixing and doping.

Board sailor and Olympic Ambassador Barbara Kendall also looks likely to join Barry Maister after the triple medalist was nominated by the IOC Executive Board in April.

If she's successful next wekend New Zealand will have two IOC Members for the first time.
