French veteran wins at home

There's been a double celebration for the French golfer Thomas Levet.

42 year old Levet turned his season around dramatically with an upset victory at the French Open, earning a place in British Open starting on Thursday week.

Levet avoided a playoff when the rookie Thorbjorn Olesen missed a putt of less than a metre on the final hole, although the young Dane's consolation was also a place in the British Open field.

Michael Campbell, who was in the top ten at the halfway stage, shot back-to-back 78s at the weekend to beat only a half a dozen players home.
