Gayle still at odds with West Indies cricket

The former West Indies captain Chris Gayle has been described as "antagonistic and unrepentant" during his dispute with the West Indies Cricket Board.

Officials of the regional governing body say they're disappointed by Gayle's "continued unprofessionalism" in dealing with outstanding issues between them.

This follows a lengthy and emotional statement from the left-handed opener last Friday, when he termed efforts by the WICB to reconcile with him as "a sham and a mockery".

The WICB says from Gayle's latest statement it would appear as though he is of the unshakeable view that he has conducted himself impeccably.

However the WICB insists that his conduct cannot simply be swept under the carpet as is the apparent desire of Mr. Gayle.

The WICB say it will continue efforts to meet with Gayle to resolve all outstanding issues.

Gayle has been overlooked for the current series between West Indies and India, following a rift with the WICB and team management, which escalated when he conducted a controversial interview with a radio station in his native Jamaica in which he strongly criticised the governing body.
