Victory plunge puts Levet's Open in doubt

The French golfer Thomas Levet is in doubt for next week's British Open championship after breaking his leg when he jumped into a lake just minutes after winning the French Open in Paris last weekend.

The 42-year-old Frenchman has already been ruled out of this week's Scottish Open after suffering a small fracture to his shin, but he's refused to rule himself out of next week's Open at Royal St George's, even though his leg is in a cast.

Levet lost a five-hole playoff to Ernie Els in the 2002 Open at Muirfield.
