Super rugby final a sellout

5:53 pm on 6 July 2011

Saturday night's Super Rugby final between the Crusaders and the Queensland Reds in Brisbane is set to break a 104-year-old attendance record with the match a sellout.

The record for a provincial match in Australia was set in 1907 when New South Wales played the All Blacks at the Sydney Cricket Ground and 49,327 spectators watched the game.

That figure will be eclipsed at the weekend with Suncorp Stadium holding up to 52 thousand spectators.

A capacity crowd will also provide almost $650 thousand in extra revenue for the Queensland Union.
