Silver Ferns coach suprised by Australian approach at world champs

The New Zealand coach Ruth Aitken concedes the approach by her Australian counterpart Norma Plummer at the netball champs in Singapore has surprised her.

The defending champions Australia and the Silver Ferns have cruised through their pool games, seemingly destined for the final on Sunday in Singapore.

New Zealand play South Africa in the quarter finals tomorrow with likely semi-final matchups on Saturday being New Zealand against England and Jamaica against Australia.

Aitken, who equalled former coach Dame Lois Muir's record of 107 Tests in charge of the Silver Ferns with their 75-23 win over Trinidad and Tobago, says she's had been keeping a close eye on Australia's progress.

However Plummer has kept opponents guessing, chopping and changing her combinations during each pool game.

Aitken says while the Australians' approach is different to what she's encountered previously it makes little difference to New Zealand as they're familiar with the entire Australian squad through the trans-Tasman competition.

She's been impressed by Jamaica's form but says England have inconsistent.
