Another 15 people including some football club executives have been jailoed pending trial as part of the match-fixing scandal in Turkish football which the country's prime minister says is staining the country's image.
The investigation has thrown into disarray preparations for the new season due to kick off in a month, and the Turkish Football Federation is expected to act soon in response to the allegations without waiting for the outcome of the case.
The most high-profile detainee, the chairman of the wealthy Istanbul club Fenerbahce, was transferred to police headquarters last night after being treated in hospital for suspected heart problems.
Of the 61 people detained in raids last Sunday, 35 have been released.
