Gill honoured to be following Usain Bolt

The 16-year-old Auckland shot-putter Jacko Gill has set his sights high after claiming another world title.

Gill has become the first athlete since Usain Bolt to win world age group titles in reverse order after taking the World Youth title in France this morning.

Gill had previously won the World Junior title, which is for older athletes.

Gill threw a personal best by half a metre despite a finger injury and finished more than 4 metres ahead of the competition.... he says it's an honour to achieve the same as the great Jamaican sprinter.

Gill will now shift his attention to the heavier senior shot and hopes to compete in next year's Olympics.

Gill becomes the second New Zealander after Valerie Adams to win the World Youth and World Junior titles in the Shot put.
