The colourful American golfer John Daly, a 2-time major winner, was on target to make his first cut in 8 events until he hit 13 on a par four on his way to an ugly 81 which resulted him missing the weekend at the John Deere Classic in Illinois.
British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen also missed the cut so will get an early flight to Britain for next week's Open.
American Chez Reavie has a two-shot lead at the halfway point of the US PGA tournament.
