There is one new cap in the All Black squad named for the one-off test against Fiji and the Tri-Nations.

The Taranaki and Highlanders lock Jarrad Hoeata has been selected for the first time after impressing in the Super Rugby competition.

The All Blacks assistant coach Steve Hansen says Hoeata first impressed them when he played for the New Zealand Maori last year.

Colin Slade has been named as Dan Carter's backup, while lock Ali Williams returns after being unavailable because of injury for 2 and a half years.

Tony Woodcock, Isaia Toeava, Hosea Gear and Israel Dagg have been named despite having injuries, so 4 other players, Wyatt Crockett, Cory Jane, Sitiveni Sivivatu and Ben Smith have been called in as cover

Among those to miss out are Tom Donnelly, Luke McAlister and Joe Rokocoko.

The first test is against Fiji in Dunedin in a fortnight, while the first Tri-Nations Test is against the Springboks in Wellington a week later.
