Don't blame Maria Tutaia says Silver Ferns coach

As the post mortems of the Silver Ferns extra-time world netball championship loss to Australia continue, coach Ruth Aitken says it'd be wrong if Maria Tutaia was made the public scape goat for the loss.

The Silver Ferns return home this afternoon still reflecting on the loss, in a final they led by six goals at one stage.

Tutaia missed a shot in extra time that would've given New Zealand the title, with Australia scoring the match winner from the rebound.

Tutaia says the shot is etched in memory, along with the rest of the game, and has vowed it won't happen again but Aitken says the loss wasn't the goal attack's fault.

She says every player looked at something they did that could have made that one goal difference.

Aitken says the game could have been won in ordinary time and they're a team, so they live and die togther,
