Black Sticks win first up in London

10:36 am on 13 July 2011

The New Zealand men's hockey team has continued its recent success over South Korea with a 2-nil victory over them in their opening match at the 4-Nation tournament in London.

The Blacks Sticks beat Korea in a series earlier this year and finished ahead of them in the recent Azlan Shah tournament in Malaysia.

Simon Child and Nick Wilson scored the goals in each half.

235-test veteran defender Blair Hopping says he was a bit suprised how well they came together today after an average buildup.

Meanwhile 13th ranked Belgium upset 4th ranked England 4-2.

New Zealand play Belgium tomorrow.
