American baseball teams are reviewing safety at their stadiums after a Texas Rangers fan plummeted to his death during a game last week.

Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig says clubs are looking at potential danger spots in stadiums to see if improvements can be made.

But he says there are no plans to ban the players from throwing souvenir balls into the stands.

A 39-year-old Texas fan died last week when he fell eight metres after he lost his footing and flipped over the railing while catching a ball thrown into the stands by a Texas player.
