Luke McAlister available for North Harbour

It looks as if the North Harbour Rugby Union and Luke McAlister have patched up their differences with the former All Black back in training and available for selection.

McAlister was dropped for Thursday night's opening provincial championship match in Dunedin after missing training on Monday.

He later apologised, saying he had family matters to deal with, and now says he didn't communicate as well as he should have with coach Liam Barry .

McAlister says that caused an unwanted distraction he needs to put right so he'll also apologise to the team as well as to North Harbour and the New Zealand Rugby Union.

North Harbour says McAlister's controversial request for an early release from his NZRU contract so he can go to France is a separate matter and in the interim he will continue to be involved in North Harbour's ITM Cup campaign.
