South America's football hierarchy is in turmoil after Paraguay beat Brazil 2-0 to eliminate the holders from the Copa America then Venezuela upset Chile 2-1.
The hosts Argentina had already lost to old rivals Uruguay yesterday, leaving the semi-finals devoid of South America's big two.
Brazil and Argentina had met in the two previous finals, both won by the Brazilians.
The semi-final line-up has Uruguay, on course for a record 15th title, facing Peru in La Plata on Wednesday while Paraguay plays Venezuela in Mendoza.
