Dixon joins Kiwis for Gold Coast

IndyCar star Scott Dixon will form a New Zealand-heavy outfit for this year's Gold Coast V8 Supercars race.

The two-time IndyCar champion has been confirmed as compatriot Shane Van Gisbergen's co-driver for the Gold Coast 600 from the 21st to the 23rd of October, in a team owned by New Zealand brothers Ross and Jimmy Stone.

Dixon competed in the event last year as the partner of Jack Daniel's Racing driver Todd Kelly and had a spectacular crash in Sunday's race.

The only thing that could stop Dixon lining up on the grid for the event is the arrival of his second child, with wife Emma due to give birth that week.

Van Gisbergen is currently fourth in this year's V8 Supercars championship, winning the first two races of his career, and was involved in a memorable finish in last year's Gold Coast event when he battled with Jamie Whincup in the closing laps before finishing second in the Sunday race to the two-time champion.

Dixon joins several overseas drivers already confirmed for the Gold Coast race including Australian IndyCar stars Will Power and Ryan Briscoe, this year's Indy500 pole sitter Alex Tagliani and European star Andy Priaulx.
