It's emerged that boxer Shane Cameron broke his hand during his technical knockout victory over Australian Dominic Vea in Sydney on Wednesday night.
The Aucklander floored Vea with three vicious right handers with just over a minute and a half to go in the 12th round of their Commonwealth Cruiserweight title bout - but after an x-ray on Friday it's been confirmed that Cameron broke a metacarpal bone in that hand, probably in the fifth round.
It's the same metacarpal the Mountain Warrior broke when he fought and knocked out Bob Mirovic over three years ago at the same stadium.
After medical consultation, his hand is now in plaster and expected to take the standard healing time of 10 weeks.
There's no word as yet on Cameron's next opponent but he says his manager Ken Reinsfield has been talking to the Danny Green camp about a possible fight, even though the Australian lost his IBO world cruiserweight belt to the veteran American fighter Antonio Tarver in Wednesday's main bout.
Green apparently doesn't want to retire or end his career on that performance, and Cameron says that would still be a "massive draw" and the two could fight for Cameron's title.
Cameron also says he'd fight Tarver for the world title in a heartbeat.
