Cadel Evans is the toast of world cycling after ending Alberto Contador's three-year reign over the Tour de France and becoming Australia's first winner of the race.
34-year-old Evans, who set his heart on winning the race as a 14 year old in 1991, is the oldest winner of the Tour since 1923, finishing one minute 34 seconds ahead of
Luxembourg's Andy Schleck, his third straight second placing, and Franck Schleck was third as the two brothers climbed the podium for the first time.
Evans had taken the lead for the first time at the weekend, with a brilliant ride on the final time trial.
He says he's enjoyed the journey.
