Smail finishes top 10

David Smail has enjoyed his first top 10 finish on the Japan Golf Tour this year after firing a two under par 70 in the final round at the Nagashima Cup.

The former New Zealand number one, whose best finishes this year were a tie for 12 and 18th, finished in a share of seventh place with a total of five under par total.

Smail banked a cheque for $53,000 after finishing 10 shots back from the winner Kyung-Tae Kim.

Meanwhile in Ohio, Danny Lee was the best of the New Zealanders at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Invitational.

The former United States Amateur champion on his return to the Nationwide Tour had a one under par 70 in the final round to stay at 26th place on the leaderboard.

Lee took home $8600 for his week and slips from 21st to 24th place on the Nationwide Order of Merit.

Tim Wilkinson improved 10 places in the final round climbing from a share of 64th place to 54th.

And in Sweden, Michael Campbell (75, 71) and Mark Brown (72, 75) missed the cut at the Nordea Masters on the European Tour.
