The New Zealand cyclist Julian Dean says his history-making finish at the Tour de France has fuelled his desire to have another crack at the great race and he's now looking to secure a contract to ride in next year's event.

Riding in his sixth tour the 35-year-old became the first New Zealand cyclist to climb the podium in Paris after his Garmin-Cervelo team claimed victory in the prestigious team classification.

Although off contract at the end of the year, Dean is confident he will once again fly the New Zealand flag in the Tour de France after what he describes as the greatest moment of his career.

Dean will now return from France to his European base in Spain and will be back in the saddle this weekend at the one day race in San Sebastian.
