It appears a truce may have been brokered to allow international men's hockey stars to take part in the upcoming big-money Indian league.
Players who take part in the World Series Hockey tournament currently risk being banned from national selection if they play because the organisers, the government-backed Indian Hockey Federation, is not recognised by the world body.
However, that could soon change after official body Hockey India and the IHF signed an agreement to jointly run the sport in the country.
The world body International Hockey Federation is still yet to give the green light to the WSH, set to be held in December after the Champions Trophy, also in India.
But the early signs after the truce are good - bans have already been lifted on five senior Indian players who skipped the national camp for a WSH promotional event.
The WSH will attract the world's best players, who are expected to earn in six weeks in India what they would in six months in Europe.
The top-ranked Australian side will be among those able to earn big money, but Kookaburras co-captain Liam De Young says while they would be keen to play, they'll sit the inaugural edition out to concentrate on the 2012 London Olympics.
