Campbell chokes to miss cut in Ireland

After a stunning first round the New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell lost the plot in the second shooting a six over par 77 to miss the cut at the Irish Open.

The former US Open and Irish Open champion had entered the second round in a tie for third after Friday's impressive five under par 66 but the Wellingtonian couldn't hold it together at Killarney, recording five bogeys and a double bogey to drop rapidly out of contention.

Campbell wasn't the only major winner to miss the cut however, also falling short was Northern Ireland's champion Darren Clarke, whose British Open win Cambo cited as inspiration after his opening round heroics.
