New Zealand athletes have posted their best ever results at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting, with a first and two third placings.

Javelin thrower Stuart Farquhar's third place in Sweden is also his personal best-ever international result.

Farquhar threw 84.21 metres in the second round, just a metre below his PB, but he still beat some of the world's best throwers in the competition won by Farquhar's part-time training partner, Olympic and world champion Andreas Thorkildsen.

The Norwegian recorded the world's best throw for 2011 with his winning distance of 88.3 metres.

Nick Willis also posted his best result of the season in the 1500 metres, placing third in a top class field just half a second behind Kenyan winner Silas Kiplagat.

On Friday shotputter Valerie Adams took another victory over Nadezhda Ostapchuk. Adams leads the Diamond League standings, while Willis and Farquhar are seventh in their respective events.
