The Wallabies back Berrick Barnes believes he is ready to return to test rugby after two games for his Sydney club side over the last two weeks.

The 25-year-old, who took a break from rugby in June after suffering a series of concussions, played for 80 minutes in both matches for his club.

The Wallabies coach Robbie Deans, will tomorrow name his squad for Saturday's test against the All Blacks in Auckland although Barnes says he hasn't spoke to Deans following his club games.

Although Quade Cooper remains Australia's first choice first five eighth, a fully fit Barnes would be a strong contender for the World Cup squad as back-up, with his ability to also play fullback and centre.

Matt Giteau, another option at first or second five was dropped by Deans after a poor display in the loss to Samoa.

Deans will name his World Cup squad on August 18th.
