Storm sting Eels with comeback

6:01 am on 2 August 2011

Melbourne seemed dead and buried against Parramatta last night before pulling off a stunning comeback to beat the Eels 22-18 and take a stranglehold on the National Rugby League minor premiership.

The Storm were strangely out of sorts at Parramatta Stadium, trailing 18-nil with 26 minutes remaining, before they sparked to life and posted four consecutive tries to steal the match from the hapless Eels with just four minutes left on the clock.

Parramatta, coming off back-to-back golden point losses to Penrith and Canterbury, appeared destined for an upset win they would have thoroughly deserved before the Storm roared to life.

After Manly's loss to Wests on Friday, the Storm have now kicked ahead by four competition points in the race for the finals.

The Eels halfback Jeff Robson has likely played his last game for the club before he moves to Cronulla next season after a sickening collision with Waqa in the fifth minute left him with a depressed fracture to his cheekbone.
