Manly officials upsets Queenslanders

Queensland league greats have leapt to the defence of the Brisbane and Australian captain Darren Lockyer who stands to equal the Australian record for all time NRL appearances this weekend, after it was controversially claimed by a Manly official that he should not be made one of the game's immortals.

The long-serving Sea Eagles official Peter Peters said in his online column Lockyer wasn't in the same class as the game's seven immortals, Bob Fulton, Graeme Langlands, Clive Churchill, Wally Lewis, Reg Gasnier, Johnny Raper and Arthur Beetson.

And he said if Lockyer was inducted into the exclusive club before Andrew Johns it would be a joke.
