Plummer calls time on Diamonds

The Australian netball coach Norma Plummer has called time on her career with the Diamonds after it was confirmed that it would not be feasible for anyone to hold both ANZ Championship and national coaching positions.

Plummer says she's comfortable with the Board's decision and is looking forward to the challenge of a full time coaching role at the West Coast Fever, where she says she will relish the day to day, hands-on aspect of the job.

Netball Australia President Noeleen Dix says that Plummer leave's the national program on the highest possible note.

She says Plummer is an international coaching icon and applauded her success in delivering Australia back-to-back World titles taking the Diamonds' formidable World Championship record to 10 wins out of a possible 13.

Dix says the role of Australian national coach will now have its first real restructure since Plummer took on the position in 2003.

Netball Australia is expecting to appoint a new national coach in the coming weeks.
