Time running out for New Zealand triathletes

9:39 am on 8 August 2011

Time is running out for the New Zealand men to qualify for next year's Olympics after the seven strong contingent failed to finish in the top ten at the London triathlon.

The men struggled on the course which will be used for the London Games with Bevan Docherty the best of the New Zealanders in 15th place.

September's world championship grand final in Bejing and the Sydney triathlon early next year are now the only qualification events left for New Zealand's Olympic hopefuls and coach Greg Fraine says not having any athletes qualify this morning throws a real spanner in the works.
