Matfield warns Wallabies that Springboks are out for revenge

The South African lock Victor Matfield has warned the Wallabies that the Springboks too are hurting and will do whatever it takes to win this weekend's Tri Nations match in Durban.

Matfield was among 21 first choice Springboks who missed the side's opening two tri nations games, taking part in a camp in Rustenburg, while a second string Springboks side lost to the Wallabies and the All Blacks.

He says it was difficult watching the Springboks lose both tests and they need to win this weekend.

The 34-year-old 105-Test veteran will retire after the World Cup.

Despite the Boks being criticised for their World Cup build-up, Matfield believes South Africa are well placed to become the first nation to defend the Webb Ellis trophy after attending to what he describes as detail and defensive issues in Rustenburg.
