Eric Dempster dies at 86

The former New Zealand cricket international Eric Dempster MBE has died.

He was 86.

Dempster a left arm spin bowler played five tests for New Zealand, all against South Africa, making his debut in 1953.

He made his first class debut for Wellington in 1947 and his last 1960 before going onto an umpiring career which including officiating in three one day internationals.
