A number of New Zealand's top amateur boxers get some valuable international experience in Wellington this weekend against a provincial Chinese team.

Exciting heavyweight prospect Joseph Parker is involved in the main event, while Joe Blackbourn and Reece Papuni are also on the card.

19-year-old Parker, who is backed by Sir Robert Jones, is ranked 10th in the world and is aiming for a medal at the London Olympics before looking at a professional career.

The Wellington champs will be held at the same time.
