Plans to expand into the Philippines have been confirmed by V8 Supercars.
But motorsport mogul Alan Gow has questioned how the traditional Ford versus Holden battle will appeal overseas.
Hot on the heels of a monumental announcement to contest touring cars in Texas from 2013, V8 CEO Martin Whitaker says a round in Manila starting in the same year is on the cards.
Whitaker says Clark International Speedway located barely an hour and a half from Manila appealed as a V8 Supercar venue.
He says talks were so advanced that they were now working with Filipino companies to find a suitable promoter for a V8 race.
V8 Supercars are still buzzing from the news that a five-year deal has been signed to hold two 200km races in Texas each year from 2013.
Races will be televised live to 80 million viewers across North and South America on the SPEED cable network.
And the V8s are also reportedly hoping to expand on current international races in Abu Dhabi and New Zealand by adding rounds in India and Singapore in the next year.
Under FIA rules, V8 Supercars are allowed to hold up to six events outside Australia.
However, Gow - British Touring Car Championship series director and FIA's Touring Car commission president - wondered how the classic Aussie motorsport battle would translate overseas.
