Talks continue over Spanish player strike

The Spanish football leaguend the players' union are to continue talks after failing to agree an end to strike action that has halted the start of the season.

Last weekend's first round was postponed because of the strike, which has also been called for the second round of games in the top two divisions.

The union wants greater protection for players' wages that have not been paid at clubs in financial administration.

It says around $100 million i owed to 200 footballers from the end of last season.

The union and the league, which represents the 42 professional clubs in the top two divisions, will meet again overnight.
