The New Zealand tennis players Marina Erakovic and Sacha Jones have both won their opening round qualifying matches at the US Open in New York.
Second seed Erakovic beat Yurika Sema of Japan 6-3, 6-1 and will next meet Petra Rampre of Slovenia.
Meanwhile Jones upset the 27th seed from the United States Alexa Glatch 6-3, 6-love.
Both need to win 2 more matches to make the main draw.
Michael Venus was beaten in the men's draw.
