The Swansea defender Alan Tate will miss several months of his club's English Premier League football campaign after breaking his leg in a golf buggy accident.

Tate was a passenger in a golf buggy at a south Wales club when the vehicle lost control and he suffered the leg injury in the subsequent crash.

The 28-year-old former Manchester United trainee was diagnosed with a broken tibia of his left leg after being taken to Morriston Hospital by ambulance.

Long-serving Tate, who was a substitute for Sunday's nil-all draw against Sunderland, has spent 10 years with Swansea and has played in all four divisions with the club.
