Expert says Adams could go close to world record

An American athletics expert says Valerie Adams is already one of the greats of the sport and that she can continue to be for another 10 years.

Adams claimed her third World Shot Put title in South Korea overnight to go with her Olympic title won in beijing in 2008.

Her throw of 21.24 metres last night equalled the championship record.

She's still more than a metre short of the world reord set in 1987 when doping was rampant.

Larry Judge, who works from the Ball State University graduate coaching programme, has followed Adams all her career and he says there is still a long way to go for the 26-year-old.

Adams is now scheduled to compete in Europe again before taking a break to prepare for next year's Olympics.
