The Jamaican sprint relay team has produced the only world record of the World Atheltics Championships, while controversial South African middle distance runner Caster Semenya was beaten in the women's 800 metre final.

Usain Bolt erased the memory of his 100 metres disqualification by bringing home his 4 by 100 relay team in a time of 37 point 04 seconds.

England's Somali-born distance athlete Mo Farah, the world's fastest man over 5000 and 10,000 metres won the 5,000 in a blanket finish, atoning for his disappointment in the longer race when he was just pipped for the gold medal.

The Kenyan-based New Zealand Jake Robertson finished last in the field of 16.
