The departing high performance manager of Swimming New Zealand Jan Cameron, says it's not in the best interest of the sport for her to remain.

Cameron's announced she'll leave her job at end of the week having tendered her resignation in the wake of a recent independed report, which was highly critical of the sport's high performance programme and singled out Cameron as a problem.

Cameron says she doesn't agree with many of the findings of the Ineson Report but says ongoing debate about the state of the high performance programme is not in the best interest of the sport.

She says the recent 12 medals won at the University Games in China and the performances at the World Champs in Shanghai where seven national records were set is something the country can be proud of.
